KAKOMA Estate is a diversified agricultural farm located in Kasungu District, Malawi, covering approximately 100 hectares of land. The estate engages in the production of a wide range of crops and agricultural commodities, including maize, rice, cassava, legumes, and oil seeds, alongside seed production. It also practices irrigation to enhance productivity and climate resilience, produces manure to improve soil fertility, and raises cattle, goats, and chickens as part of its integrated farming operations.
The estate promotes inclusive agricultural development through contract farming arrangements with smallholder farmers in surrounding communities, particularly in the production of rice, cassava, soybeans, and sunflower. These partnerships provide reliable market opportunities, support access to agricultural inputs, and contribute to increased household incomes, food and nutrition security, and rural economic development.
Through its integrated crop and livestock production, seed multiplication, sustainable farming practices, and partnerships with local farmers, KAKOMA Estate creates employment opportunities, particularly for women and youth, while supporting climate-smart agriculture, agro-processing value chains, and sustainable livelihoods in Malawi.
